Ms. Marion Sophia Brown
An Attorney at Law who was called to the Bar in 2011, she is currently the Vice President and University Registrar at the University of Technology, Jamaica.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) degree from the University of London, Certificate in Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in History and International Relations from the University of the West Indies. Miss Brown also holds certification in Supervisory Management and Personnel Administration from the UWI Open Campus.
Miss Brown has been described as a product sample of the Heart Trust NSTA and UTech, Jamaica having joined the University in 1991 as a Heart Trainee and have served in several administrative and technical capacities including being the University’s first Governance Officer and Assistant Legal Counsel and Compliance Officer. Miss Brown has also served for two terms as President of the University of Technology, Jamaica Administrative Staff Association (UTASA) the Union with bargaining rights for administrative staff at the University.
She has served on several governing bodies of the University and currently Chairs the Quality Assurance Standard Work Group on Governance and Management. She has served as Co-opted member on the Corporate Governance Committee and or Human Resource Committees of several Public Bodies including the Heart Trust NSTA, Factories Corporation of Jamaica and the National Health Fund. She also served on the Projects and Planning Committee of the Heart Trust NSTA.
She is currently a Commissioner on the Board of Commissioners of the National Water Commission and Chairs the Corporate Governance and Human Resource Committee of the Board.
Miss Brown is an Alumni Ambassador for the University of London International Programme and is also a proud past student of the Maggoty and Carron Hall High Schools respectively. She hails from the Parish of St Elizabeth.
