On August 1, 2015, Mr. Mark Barnett was appointed President of the National Water Commission (NWC), Jamaica’s primary potable water and wastewater service provider.

Mr. Barnett is an Engineer with extensive experience, managing both technical and commercial operations for water and waste water services at the NWC over the course of his employment.

He has served the NWC in various capacities, the most recent being those of Vice President for Wastewater Operations and Vice President for Technical Support.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Waste and Water Engineering from Loughborough University in the UK; a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical & Process Engineering from the University of the West Indies; and a Diploma in Chemical Technology from the College of Arts, Science and Technology (CAST) among his educational qualifications.

Mr. Barnett is a leader who is very aware of the NWC’s critical role in national development, and uses his wide expertise to positively impact the various areas of the company’s operations.

Under the present structure, the President is assisted by five (5) Vice Presidents who are responsible for the areas of Investment and Performance Monitoring; Corporate Services; Divisional Operations and Engineering and Capital Projects.
